Tellutide Film/The Oscar Clearinghouse and The Director's Guild

The DGA announced their 5 nominees for Outstanding Achievement this morning and they are (drumroll please!)

Darren Aronofsky, “Black Swan”

David O. Russell, “The Fighter”

Christopher Nolan, “Inception”

Tom Hooper, “The King’s Speech”

David Fincher, “The Social Network”

Left out: The Coen Brothers for "True Grit" and Danny Boyle for "127 Hours."

Come Oscar Nomination morning I think it's still possible for the Coens and Boyle to slip in and Aronofsky and Russell to be on the outs. But, realistically, this morning's announcement is a nice boost for Aronofsky and Russell...and probably hurts Boyle more than the Coens. I further suspect that Nolan, Fincher and Hooper are locks. We'll have an updated Clearinghouse for the Big 8 categories up this week.
