Telluride #39 Isn't Over/Another 2014 Oscar List

ONLY TWELVE HOURS LATE, BUT HERE IT IS...

Good Thursday.

TFF #39 ISN'T OVER

Films that were are a part of The SHOW lineup in 2012 are still rolling out and making news as they do.  Just this week we've seen the first trailer for Sarah Polley's very well received documentary "Stories We Tell".  I've posted a couple of stories that accompanied that film's roll out from The Playlist as well as Rope of Silicon:

As you cab see ROS writer Brad Brevet thinks "Stories" is already a Best Doc contender for next year's Oscars.

Another documentary that got a lot of attention at TFF #39 was Dror Moreh's "The Gatekeepers" which was Oscar nominated but dropped to "Searching for Sugarman".  Moreh has been a gadfly as he has been promoting the film.  I've linked interview's with the director from Vice and PBS:

ANOTHER 2014 OSCAR LIST

HitFix has put together a gallery featuring 25 films that the staff thinks have 2014 Oscar potential.  What's on it?

The not complete list includes: 

"August: Osage County**", "Captain Phillips"**, "The Counselor", "Diana"**,  "The Fifth Estate**", "Foxcatcher"**,"Inside Llewyn Davis", "Labor Day"**, "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"**, "The Monuments Men", "A Most Wanted Man"**, "Nebraska"**, "Oldboy"**and "Twelve Years a Slave".

Those films with an ** are some of the films on the HitFix list that they think have at least a theoretical chance of playing at Telluride.
