Twosday/Your Invitations/Tribute Claims/Gravity Views

It's TWOSDAY...meaning just two days until the start of this year's SHOW.

The Patterson Train leaves the station to head west this afternoon.  We're over-nighting in Salida, CO. and then rolling on in the rest of the way to Telluride on Wednesday morning.  We really want to be sure that we make it to the Free Concert featuring The Punch Brothers on Town Park Stage at 5:00 pm.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was a surprise appearance or two during the concert.

Then there's the film in the park tomorrow night: "The Big Lebowski".  That's a clue, friend-o (see below).

YOUR INVITATIONS

Invite #1: Don't forget to drop by The River Club (550 W. Depot in Telluride) at 5:00 pm on Thursday for the Third Annual "Guide to the Ride".  Friends, food, a little vino and we'll talk about what's going to happen over Labor Day weekend in Telluride.

Invite #2:  Don't forget to rate the films you see this week and drop me a line so I can include them in this year's "People's Telluride" film ratings.

Invite #3: Check out Screencraft.org starting Wednesday for my guest writer spot on their blog.

TRIBUTE CLAIMS

Showbiz411.com claimed yesterday that one of this year's three tributes will be for The Coen Brothers.

That jibes with a lot of the chatter I've been hearing as we count down the last few hours before the 40th edition of the Telluride Film Festival takes flight.  Sounds right.  The post also claims that another tribute will be for British actor/director Ralph Fiennes.  Here's where I quibble.  That is NOT a name I've been hearing in connection with a tribute.  I'm not saying that it won't be Fiennes.  I am saying that I've a couple of pretty good sources that have whispered another name...American actor/director...maybe founded a film festival of his own in Utah.

See for yourself by taking a look at the ShowBiz411 post here:

GRAVITY VIEWS

There is a lot of back and forth in the press about whether "Gravity" seems like a "Telluride" film and consequently whether it will play.  I continue to be in the "it'll play" camp.  You'll be able to see that belief in tomorrow morning's final "Ten Bets" post.

Nevertheless, it continues to be a film that intrigues me.  Yesterday The Playlist linked two television spots fr the film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney and directed by Alfonso Cuaron.  You can find that post and those links here:
