Invitation/Iceman Hiding?/Master News/Not Fade Away/Seven Psychos

Good Thursday World!

INVITATION

Hey...here's a reminder.  If you read the blog, like the blog and want to "hang" and talk film for a half hour or so, come to the "Second Annual Guide to the "Ride"; Flow of the SHOW" soiree at The River Club in Telluride at 550 Depot.  We'll start at 5:00 pm and refreshments are planned.  We're also hoping for a special guest or two.  Join me and our hosts Mitzi and Larry Mallard.

ICEMAN HIDING

Yesterday I reported that a website called MafiaToday.com had let drop that Ariel Vromen's "The Iceman" would play at Telluride.  It seemed legit as it also referenced confirmed slots for the film at both Toronto and Venice.  Then, late in the day, I was informed via comment on yesterday's post that MafiaToday.com was either down or didn't exist...

So I took a look and sure enough...no mafiatoday.com.

However, after some poking around, two things...Google still has that post cached and I was able to get to the sourced article from northjersey.com which makes the same claims.  You can find that here:
http://www.northjersey.com/arts_entertainment/television/166075186__Iceman__is_dead__but_his_tale_still_chills_audiences_.html

So, all in all, I still feel pretty good about "The Iceman" in the Telluride lineup.

MASTER NEWS

I continue to hold onto slim hopes that we will see "The Master" in Telluride, although it seems to me that the chance is diminishing almost everyday.  Yesterday came the release online of a new trailer that ran this weekend in some theaters nationally and along with that the announcement that the film will be screening tonight in Chicago at The Music Box Theater.  Frankly, I don't think this bodes well for a Telluride engagement.

Here's the trailer:

NOT FADE AWAY

Won't be at Telluride...at least probably not as it has been announced as the New York Film Fests centerpiece gala (a spot held down by "My Week with Marilyn" last year).  Frankly, I hadn't given "Not Fade Away" much of a chance at a Telluride bow anyway.

"WFA's" IMBd entry: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1230215/

I have linked some of yesterday's posts about the NYFF announcement:

http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/new-images-from-david-chases-not-fade-away-the-new-york-film-festival-centerpiece-selection-20120815

Though one quick note...Tapley's concluding sentence about the three announced films for NYFF's opener (Life of Pi), centerpiece (Not Fade Away) and closer (Song for Marion) obliquely includes the phrase "(official) exclusivity" which makes me think that Tapley thinks or perhaps already knows that one of the three (or more) will play Telluride.  Of the three, I still think "Song for Marion" makes the most sense.

Finally, I'm waiting to see the rest of the NYFF lineup to search for possible T-ride clues.

SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS

And we saw the trailer release this week for "Seven Psychopaths" which has an outside shot at playing in Telluride.  Here's the trailer:

"Seven Psychopaths" is written and directed by Martin McDonagh and features Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson.

Here is its IMDb entry: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1931533/

I have also linked a few posts regarding the film and its trailer:

I think "The Master" shows up at TFF if they can do it on 70mm... that's still a pretty special opportunity a lot of people won't have had yet (if ever).
