Not much movement on this week's Ten (Plus) Bets. Nickel Boys and The Apprentice move up a bit as does Jason Reitman's film about Saturday Night Live (see below). Babygirl and the Untitled Noah Baumbach project have both been removed from the list of possibles after news from Variety.
A NEW NAME AND A DATE
Multiple outlets reported Tuesday that Jason Reitman's SNL 1975 has been re-titled Saturday Night and also a release date of October 11th. Their had been hot and heavy rumors that the film was headed to Telluride but that's cooled a bit.
That positions the film nicely to play Telluride/Toronto and even New York (NYFF opens Sept. 27th and runs through Oct. 13th). I can even see the film announced as NYFF's Centerpiece film.
