GOLDEN GLOBES SUNDAY...

The Golden Globes have become, perhaps, the most important Oscar precursor event.  That awards show happens on Sunday smack in the middle of the Oscar nomination voting period which opens today and runs through next Tuesday.

To that extent, I pay some attention to Globes nominations and winners to see if they provide any clues or insights about Oscar nominations we might see announced on Jan. 13th.

Gold Derby put up their latest odds for Golden Globes winners yesterday and here's a thumbnail look at what they say will win as well as a glance at the odds for all other TFF #46 films that were nominated.  All TFF #6 films are in Bold.

BEST PICTURE-DRAMA
Winner: The Irishman. Possible: Marriage Story.  The Two Popes has odds of 9/2.

BEST PICTURE-MUSICAL/COMEDY
Winner: Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood.  Possible: Jojo Rabbit.

BEST ACTRESS/DRAMA
Winner: Renee Zellweger/Judy.  Possible: Charlize Theron/Bombshell.  Scarlett Johansson/Marriage Story odds are 39/10.

BEST ACTOR/DRAMA
Winner: Joaquin Phoenix/Joker.  Possible: Adam Driver/Marriage Story.  The rest of the category is all from TFF #46.  Their odds: Antonio Banderas/Pain and Glory 4/1, Jonathan Pryce/The Two Popes 9/2 and Christian Bale/Ford v Ferrari 9/2.

BEST ACTRESS MUSICAL/COMEDY
Winner: Awkwafina/The Farewell.  Possible: Ana De Armas/Knives Out.

BEST SCREENPLAY
Winner: Noah Baumbach/Marriage Story.  Possible: Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood.  Parasite's odds are 4/1.  The Two Popes has odds of 9/2.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE
Winner: Toy Story 4.  Possible: Frozen II.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
Winner: 1917.  Possible: Joker.  Marriage Story has odds of 9/2 as does Motherless Brooklyn.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG

So...Gold Derby has TFF #46 films winning four Golden Globes on Sunday:
Parasite wins for Best Foreign Language Film and Direction.
Renee Zellweger wins for Best Actress/Drama for Judy
Noah Baumbach wins Best Screenplay for Marriage Story.

The only other film, in addition to Parasite, to win more than a single Globe is predicted to be Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood with two: Best Film Musical/Comedy and Brad Pitt for Best Supporting Actor.
